Home Page Haier Ecosystem Ecosystem Story RRS Opens Up International Transportation Routes to Deliver Medical Supplies to Wuhan
In
early 2020, while the whole country is mobilized to combat the novel
coronavirus, RRS is engaged with urgent procurement, coordination and
transportation of medical supplies across borders. Everyone in China
is deeply concerned with how the donation and relief supplies can be
safely and efficiently delivered to Wuhan and other areas.
Within 46 hours, relief materials were delivered from Moscow to Wuhan;
Within 32 hours, relief materials were delivered from Chicago to Qingdao;
......
The amazing speed has been made possible by the RRS fast transportation platform of international aid, which delivers overseas relief supplies to the areas that need them most, at the fastest speed. RRS, with its global logistics capability, provides integrated full-process solutions including door-to-door service, door-to-harbor service and harbor-to-harbor service etc. It also supports coordinated, seamless and fast transportation by air, train, land and sea.
Transportation routes are lifelines. During the epidemic, cross-border transportation is the new norm.
Secure freight space in advance
After the epidemic broke out, there was a dire shortage of medical supplies in China. Haier and other enterprises and institutions took advantage of their global presence and resources and coordinated the transportation of global medical supplies to frontlines. However, with the influx of overseas materials and the decrease of available flights, freight space becomes limited. Therefore, it is an important step to secure freight space in advance and make sure the materials are delivered to China in the shortest time possible.
“RRS Logistics secured the freight space using half of the average time upon receipt of a transportation request from Haier America Team” Cai Xuping, manager of RRS cross-border transportation, said. “To secure freight spaces, our colleagues in the U.S. work with the China team despite different time zones.”

RRS Logistics establishes cooperation with the top 20 suppliers in the industry and integrates over 100 air transportation resource providers. This is the main reason why RRS Logistics can secure freight space within a very short period of time.
After securing the freight space, 28,000 protective goggles and suits weighing 4.5 tons were transported to Chicago Airport on 1stFebruary. In the meantime, to achieve a faster speed, RRS Logistics changed the packaging to reduce the volume by 30%, saving cost and improving loading efficiency.
Integrated customs clearance
Cross-border transportation involves multiple procedures such as freight space, customs clearance and last-mile transportation etc. Among the procedures, customs clearance is the most important one, which requires the coordination and collaboration of customs departments.

In the early stages of the epidemic when Haier called for global support, RRS Logistics set up an international aid transportation team to collect information of government policies, flight schedules, freight capacity etc., collaborate with Qingdao Customs in opening up integrated customs channels and set up quick clearance channels in major cities in China.
“In general, it takes one day to clear customs in major cities. RRS Logistics did it in one hour.” Cai, Xuping, manager of RRS cross-border transportation, said. “It takes only 46 hours to ship the relief materials from Moscow to Wuhan. We have saved at least 8 hours.”
It is fair to say that integrated customs clearance has played a significant role.
Enhance the main route and last mile transportation
The dire need of relief supplies and the limited freight resources have complicated the transportation of relief supplies from overseas to China and to Wuhan.
(RRS Logistics delivered Dubai relief materials from Shenzhen Airport to Wuhan in 18 hours)
RRS Logistics first set up an emergency transportation route to Wuhan and provided door-to-door priority delivery solutions by taking advantage of its main route and last mile transportation capabilities. When other logistics service providers cannot deliver due to their own limits or the fear for the virus, RRS Logistics keeps delivering relief materials to Wuhan and other areas in China.

This epidemic has brought the value of logistics in the coordination and circulation of global resources to the fore. RRS Logistics have tailored cross-border logistics solutions in over 10 countries and districts, including Russia, Japan, Thailand, Nigeria and Dubai, and delivered 22 batches of donated materials via quick customs clearance, timely transfer and frontline delivery.
